God of War director Cory Barlog has come to defence of Kratos' new lease of life in the latest, Nordic flavoured instalment of the popular franchise, stating that none of the oh-so-feared changes were implemented "willy-nilly".
As is often the case with artistic real estate, attempts to revitalise the God of War franchise weren't without their detractors. In fact, Barlog even mentioned hashtags Not My God Of War, which we find hilarious, even if we don't agree with them.

However, God of War director pointed out that those fans may want to play the game first. Namely, Barlog claims that the team have "been very restrictive of the information and what we're showing visually", suggesting there's even more to Kratos than we previously thought.
Barlog insists the new God of War must be experienced as a whole before passing any judgements and reminded that this is still the same ol' Kratos we're talking about. Moreover, most the team behind the entire God of War franchise is virtually unchanged as well, lending further weight to Barlog's words.

He made sure fans are aware there were no third-party intrusions in God of War either and that his team maintained full control throughout the development. "Nothing has changed cynically or under presure or just willy-nilly. All of us put a lot of heart and soul into this game, and the DNA of what this franchise is still pumps through the blood of this game."
At a risk of sounding like a fanboy, yours truly has really seen nothing that would keep him away from Kratos' Nordic escapades, at least not reliably. Naturally, with the game launching on 20 April 2018, I guess it won't take long before we know.
