Facepunch Studios are celebrating 15 years since Garry's Mod arrived at the scene as a "humble Half-Life 2 mod". It all started on 24 December 2004 when the physics sandbox first saw the light of day.
The game turned standalone in November 2006 and sold more than 15 million copies. It has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating given by over 360,000 reviewers and it seldom fails to rank amongst the top-selling games on Steam. Garry's Mod currently features around 1.5 million player-made creations, and that includes maps, models and game modes.
Facepunch has confirmed the following stats:
- Bad Guys Killed: 233 million
- Good Guys Killed: 124 million
- Innocent Bystanders Killed: 88 million
- Balls Eaten: 34 million
With all this in mind, the studio has decided they would like to celebrate the momentous milestone. During the birthday month, players of Facepunch's PvP game Rust can repair and upgrade their structures with a "sprinkling of nostalgia (and advanced science)". You can do just that by claiming the Garry’s Mod Tool Gun hammer in Rust.
Since the World is currently swept up in the Holiday season, we will see the return of the Facepunch Publisher Sale next week on Steam. The sale will go on from 16 December until 19 December 2019.
The sale will include
- Garry’s Mod
- RUST
- Chippy
- Clatter
All games will be 33 per cent off and, for the first time ever, they'll be available in the form of a bundle. The package itself will come with an extra 10 per cent discount.
