Fortnite v18.40 brings fresh weapons to the War Effort. The hotfix also set the stage for the upcoming Strike from the Shadows week mini-event.
Fortnite's update v18.40 rolled onto the game's servers a week ago, complete with the Shopping Cart vehicle and a brand new War Effort. This week, we got a v18.40 hotfix that replaces the Salvaged B.R.U.T.E. in the War Effort with two new weapons, and Strike from the Shadows mini-event.
War Effort - Proximity Grenade Launcher vs. Flint-Knock Pistol
The Salvaged B.R.U.T.E. is stepping back so the Proximity Grenade Launcher and the Flint-Knock Pistol can shine. Players once again need to decide which weapon to fund with their Bars which can be deposited at Donation Stations. The Proximity Grenade Launcher does pretty much what it says on the box: launches grenades that detonate when they're close to someone.
The second option is the Flint-Knock Pistol. This one is a bit more tricky to figure out from the name itself but essentially, the Flint-Knock Pistol will send you flying backwards when you shoot it.
Strike from the Shadows week
Players will have to be stealthy with this one. The Strike from the Shadows Week will kick off at 14:00 GMT on November 23 and go on until 14:00 GMT on November 30. The objective is to assume the shadow form with the Stones and Floppers, get close enough to your target to reveal yourself and perform the final strike with the Kunai.
Weapons are not accessible while in shadow form.
- The Strike from the Shadows Week changes will not be included in competitive playlists.
