League of Legends' resident scarecrow and fear machine is getting a visual and gameplay update, or VGU for short, in 2020. Riot Games emphasised the fear as the focus of both his kit and new look. So far it looks like they nailed the latter.
Fiddlesticks is a scarecrow that is supposed to make the enemies afraid of him but teams generally get relieved when they see him these days. We suspect it will remain that way until Riot Games pushes out his VGU in 2020. Those impatient to see more of Fiddle are in for a treat as his preview is available on Riot's dev page.
As we previously noted, they seem to hit the nail on the head while chasing the creepy appearance. Fiddlesticks certainly looks more imposing on the image above than he did before but the real horror is in the animations.
When you hear "ancient evil" there is a high chance you will imagine one of the movie monsters that tremble seemingly without control from time to time and this is the direction Riot chose for Fiddle. His idle animation is creepy enough on its own but the team didn't stop there and continued with adding a mini jump scare .
While a surprise tongue shiver is scary, monsters tend to be more terrifying when they suddenly spruce up additional limbs. Riot Games incorporated this as well. When Fiddlesticks starts running, presumably with a speed buff, his default movement animation will switch to the one where gets additional limbs and looks like is grabbing the ground with his numerous arms.
His ult is possibly the best one in the creepy bundle so we saved it for last. Instead of just t-posing until he pops up in the enemy team, Fidldesticks now appears to start unleashing his demonic presence and then teleports towards enemies to melt them down. You wanted Eldritch? You got Eldritch.
