Fallout 76 owners will get free copies of Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics according to Bethesda. This could be a random giveaway, but considering the Fallout 76 disaster, this is likely Bethesda trying to get some goodwill back.
Bethesda are giving out several Fallout games that fans actually liked for free. Granted, players liked them around 20 years ago, when Fallout and Fallout 2 came out. On top of that, these are turn-based tactics RPGs, unlike the survival title that is Fallout 76 so it remains dubious whether Fallout 76 buyers will find any value in them.
Still, Fallout and Fallout 2 sit at 93 per cent positive reviews on Steam, while Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel has 83 per cent positive reviews, despite the games being two decades old, with visibly dated graphics. Those who didn't buy Fallout 76 and don't want to, can get these three games at what is a bargain for the quality and game depth - each of these games is on a 75 per cent discount during the holidays.
The price for each is now $2,49 / €2,49 / £1,99 so it's not exactly like Bethesda will go out of business for giving them away. If you have a GOG account, it's possible you already have all of these games in your library since Interplay gave a ton of them away just before Bethesda acquired them.
Speaking of which, if you do decide to purchase Fallout, Fallout 2 or Fallout Tactics, we would recommend doing so on GOG since games from their store are strictly DRM free. There is no way someone in the future will tell you that you can't play them anymore.

Meanwhile, fan reaction to Bethesda's has been mixed with some users pointing out they already gained all three games for free, while others pointed out not everyone is a PC gamer, and these games aren't for consoles. Be that as it may, as previously stated, all three games released more or slightly less than 20 years ago and system requirements reflect that. Any kind of rig can run classic Fallout titles these days. In fact, a Windows tablet can do it too.
