Preload doesn't mean pre-play, so hold your horses, as you will have to wait 10 more days to play the latest edition of F1.
Starting today, the F1 22 can be pre-loaded on the consoles. What that means is that you can download the game files before the game's release, and have it ready to play as soon as it's available, but you won't be able to play it before the release.
This can come in handy for fans who have a bit slower internet connection and can avoid downloading the game for the whole release day. Microsoft and PS Stores aren't known for bottlenecking downloads, but having an option to download the game this early is nice.
What people noticed immediately is the under 50 GB game size on Xbox.
Considering the previous versions of the game were 50+, the latest being 80 GB in size, this could mean two things: either Codemasters found a way to compress the game much better, or the preload doesn't include everything, and will require additional download on Day 1.
Steam users, as of 23rd of June, can also preload the game via the Steam launcher. PC download size is 46,19GB.
The Champions Edition of the game will release on June 28, 2022, while the standard edition will release for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on July 1, 2022. For the first time, the game will not only be available through Steam but on Origin and Epic Games stores as well.
The game can be ordered on the official website.
