After a successful 5-week public Alpha phase, Frontier Developments have today announced that Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will officially launch on May 19, 2021, for PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and FrontierStore.
The launch date for consoles both PlayStation and Xbox is yet to be revealed but Frontier confirmed they are targeting the Autumn 2021 release window, which is quite far away but as always with big Elite updates, PC has the advantage since the majority of player base is there.
Odyssey is a long-waited expansion for Frontier's space sim. It allows players to touch down on newly accessible planets with new atmospheres, explore, engage in combat and trade, take on missions, work together or alone over their surfaces with complete freedom from a first-person, feet-on-the-ground perspective.
This is certainly one of the biggest, if not the biggest update for Elite Dangerous. For more details about the game, you can check out the official gameplay in the video above or read about the pre-order bonuses and pricing below:
"Prospective Commanders still have the chance to get hold of the exclusive Pioneer suit skin pre-ordering the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey expansion with an SRP of £29.99/$39.99/€34.99, or the new Deluxe Edition, with an SRP of £34.99/$44.99/€39.99. This includes the Odyssey expansion and the official soundtrack."
