We suppose it never hurts to be cautious with these things, because even so much as not denying a rumour can be, and often is, interpreted as confirmation. And we all know how passionate gamers can get, so better safe than sorry.
Anyway, Techland broke the news via their Discord, where they wrote, "Honestly, to keep the expectations in tact i can say already that there won't be a release date announcement, but there will be more than simple "the development is going smoothly.
They stressed that it's a dev update, after all, reminding Dying Light 2 fans that they can take solace in the fact that there won't be any delay announcements either, which we thought was pretty funny.
On a more serious note, however, Techland stressed that Dying Light 2 is not getting cancelled despite what you may have heard. The team is still toiling away at it and we should see some of the results in the dev update, which is scheduled for March 17, 2021, by the way.
Techland promised that by the end of the update, the community will have a better understanding of where in the development cycle Dying Light 2 is, and there are no surprises or twists in terms of the direction. "The vision is still pretty much the same, choices and consequences, huge infected world sandbox and co-op multiplayer", they wrote.
Dying Light 2 has been making headlines for mostly wrong reasons lately, where the departure of art director and lead writer Pawel Selinger sparked rumours that it's just a matter of time before Techland pull the plug. They responded, however, insisting that the new art director has been working on the game since November 2020.
