Publisher Funcom and developer Shiro Games have officially announced that their upcoming strategy Dune: Spice Wars is entering early access in just a couple of weeks - on April 26.
Additionally, along with the news about the early access, the teams behind Dune: Spice Wars announced Fremen as the fourth playable faction in the game.
Fremen will have a much greater capacity to move across and withstand the open desert, less chance to attract sandworms and they also have an improved ability to ally with hidden Sietches, the neutral native settlements.
Fremen units include Warriors, Infiltrators, Skirmishers, Fedaykins and Kulon Caravans. You can check out the official blog post for a closer look at the Fremen faction in Dune: Spice Wars.
Dune: Spice Wars is a combination between real-time strategy and some 4X elements. It's based on Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece Dune and will follow the books closely, offering players the chance to play as one of four factions who are battling against each other on the desert planet of Arrakis, the source of the most valuable resource in the entire universe - spice.
In addition to this strategy title, Funcom have confirmed they are working on an open-world multiplayer survival game set in Dune universe.
Dune: Spice Wars is confirmed to be launching only on the PC platform.
