Funcom's open-world multiplayer survival game based on the globally popular Dune IP called Dune: Awakening is officially coming on May 20, 2025, it's been announced today.
The game is coming only to Steam though while consoles release date will be announced at a later date, suggesting it may take a while before players on Xbox and PlayStation get to join the party.
The base game will cost $49.99, with pre-orders starting soon. Those who decide to trust Funcom with their wallet before the reviews arrive will receive the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, a fancy in-base decoration which houses the iconic desert mouse. Check it out below.
Additionally, Funcom also announced that players can start creating their characters right now, ahead of the official launch, thanks to the Character Creation tool, which you can download on Steam. Obviously, the characters you create can be imported into the full game later on.
Oh, and you can test your PC in Benchmark Mode to see if your hardware is good enough to play this gorgeous game with lots of sand.
To encourage you to try these tools, Funcom are rewarding everyone who downloads the apps with this awesome-looking blade.
All in all, plenty of good news for everyone who is eager to start playing Dune: Awakening, which has been our our radar too for a long time.
