There aren't many games that can boast such rich legacy as Doom, so it's no wonder Bethesda and id Software are using it to sweeten them preorder deals for Doom Eternal. Not that there's any sweetening needed, but it's still a nice touch.
Even oldtimers are often caught off guard with just how popular Doom continues to be after all these years, and you've probably caught wind of various speedrunning exploits. In fact, one of them was beaten only recently, after a while, but we digress.
"Fight through demonic hordes, hunt down the Mother of Demons, and stop Hell's invasion as you battle through more than 30 action-packed levels. Be on the lookout for classic weapons and secrets to help you put an end to the demonic threat", the description reads.
We're talking about the same old Doom, of course, just on new platforms - PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. All of these will be getting Doom 64 on 20 March 2020, which is when Bethesda and id Software are set to launch Doom Eternal as well.
In case you were on the fence whether to preorder Doom Eternal, you should know that Bethesda and id are bundling Doom 64 with all the preorders, although Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait for the exact release date on both.
As you can see from the trailer, Doom 64 is faithful to the original down to a pixel, and there's really not much else to do than shoot and reload.
That said, we're not overly big on advising our readers to preorder, as it's been a source of too many headaches for many, so do take that into account.
On the other hand, we can't say we're not excited for Doom Eternal as it promises the sort of brutality that we've been yearning for in the franchise, so onwards to March 2020.
