Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9 and Elysium has announced that he will be joining Gunzilla Games to work on an unannounced AAA multiplayer shooter.
Gunzilla Games, a developer with studios in Frankfurt, Germany, Los Angeles, USA and Kyiv, Ukraine are working on their first game, which is an ambitious multiplayer shooter.
Today, the studio announced that the director of Holywood blockbusters District 9, Elysium and the upcoming Demonic, Neil Blomkamp, has joined the team as Chief Visionary Officer, to define the in-game vision of this unannounced multiplayer AAA shooter.
The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
Neil Blomkamp says he's hopeful that his experience with films will translate to video games:
"My own big screen film experience will hopefully help shape new ways of interactive storytelling and next-generation visuals. And by making best use of everything today’s video game development technologies have on offer we will jointly create an immersive experience like we’ve never seen before," states Neill Blomkamp.
He also added that Gunzilla Games are a talented bunch, with a strong vision for the game, which is an exciting new multiplayer AAA shooter that pushes the boundaries of gameplay, player freedom, customisation as well as narrative experience within the genre.
Given that Blomkamp is a big sci-fi fan, we would not be surprised if Gunzilla's shooter is actually from the same genre. We have to say that something Elysium-like would certainly be exciting for a video game.
Hopefully, we'll hear more about the project in the coming months.
