Hot air or hot news? Activision and Bungie say nothing, but rumours mount that Destiny 2 will arrive to PC, ramping up the hopes of PC gamers that the soon to be looter-shooter series won't remain confined as a console exclusive title.
Game site Kotaku, long a source of official and unofficial news about Destiny, is ramping up the hopes of PC gamers by reporting claims by that Destiny 2 will make the leap from consoles to PCs.
With the latest Rise of Iron expansion turning its back on last-gen PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles to allow the game to open up more on current-gen hardware, the lure of a vast PC player base is understandably tempting to Activision - who remain silent on almost everything to do with the next Destiny.
Kotaku writer references sources inside and outside game development and delves further into the direction the game is expected to take, including the likelihood that the new game will entirely supercede the existing game and introduce entire new characters and spaces.
Neogaf contributor - who has chimed in before with news about dev of the game that has turned out to be spot on - says the new game will focus heavily on the Cabal faction, and Saturn. He goes on to say that the playable area for Saturn will be bigger than the entire playable area for the current game.
Also highlighted is the desire by Activision to benefit from memory and framerate caps imposed by serving last-gen consoles, and to reduce loading times and dead zones where new instances were loading in. This will see a much increased number or social areas and populated 'outposts' within the game itself.
Activision and Bungie are saying nothing - standard - but the game is said to be slated for late 2017.
