CD Projekt Red are keeping up with creating even more goodwill with their fans as they announced that those who purchase Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One will not need to buy it on Xbox Series X as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 already looks like a game that will inspire the players the same way The Witcher 3 did. CD Projekt Red achieved this with Geralt through providing a ton of enjoyable content for a one-time payment and then when the time for expansions came, they sold $20 packages that rivalled the AAA titles with their size.
Value for money mantra will continue with Cyberpunk 2077 as well it seems and the first signs are already showing. When Microsoft tweeted out that four generations of console games will be available on Xbox Series X, CD Projekt Red chimed in and piled on the good news with some of their own.
While Xbox Series X's cross-generation efforts would most likely allow the owners of Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One to play on the next-gen console as well, CD Projekt Red announced that there will be a free upgrade when the new hardware becomes available.
In their own words , "owners of Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available".
Considering that Xbox Series X should be a major jump in hardware capabilities over Xbox One, there is no doubt that fans will be delighted with the news as Night City will unquestionably look more beautiful than ever when the next generation comes.
There are currently no news on whether Sony will pull something similar with PlayStation 5 but if they don't, Microsoft will have an incredibly strong selling point with this title alone. Sony already stated that PS5 will feature backwards compatibility but it remains to be seen if Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade will come for free there as well.
