Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a quest designer on Cyberpunk 2077 said that everyone at CD Projekt Red is feeling huge pressure due to a release date that's been revealed at E3. However, he also said that the team is super excited about the game.
We're still over around ten months away from the release date of CD Projekt Red's highly anticipated sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077. The game is hitting the shelves in April 2020 which may sound like a lot of time to wrap up the project but judging by Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz's words, that may not be the case.
Mateusz is a quest designer at CD Projekt Red and in his latest interview with Gamesindustry.biz, he talked about the pressure and excitement that Cyberpunk 2077 development brings to the team.
According to Tomaszkiewicz, the ride is both exciting and stressful. At the end of the day, the studio just wants to make a proper game which will be loved by millions of players but there's also the pressure to hit the release date.
"First of all, it's super exciting because obviously you want people to love the game you are making and to be excited about it as much as we are. On the other hand, it's stressful because it's a huge pressure, especially now we have a release date announced," Mateusz explained.
He also said that the team feels pressure to deliver the game on time and to a high quality that they are known for. Apparently, this is also an additional motivation for the team that sees a clear goal ahead of them - to create a successful game.
Interestingly, Tomaszkiewicz also defended CD Projekt Red's non-obligatory crunch policy. He said that some staff simply want to put in the extra work hours. "When you create something with passion and you want it to be really, really good, you're willing to go this extra step for it," he concluded.
