Following Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's launch week update, which among other things nerfed all snipers, Treyarch's dev Tony Flame suggested M82 sniper buff is incoming.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's lead designer Tony Flame now tweeted out the team's "next order of business", which as you can see is to beef up the M82.
Note that the earlier Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update did a group nerf of snipers , tweaking their Sprint to Fire times to account for early interruption allowed via the animation system and fine-tuned the barrel attachments that improve idle sway to make them feel more unique to their parent weapons.
Of course, none of these are changes done willy-nilly by the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War team, and Flame even gave some insight into how Treyarch go about making these buffs and nerfs.
"A little insight into the core of "Buff" or "Nerf" decisions. Time-To-Kill (TTK) is king, it's paramount to preserve the best TTK experience across weapons over time. When a weapon far exceeds that baseline, we must nerf it to respect the TTK, and likewise buff to get it there", he tweeted.
If you're keen on following the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War even more and practically seeing how the sausage is made, Treyarch have a Trello board , where you can report issues and/or follow the ones yet to be fixed.
Unfortunately for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players who have grown weary of the ongoing MP5-mania, the gun's nerf was accidentally reverted in the last update. Treyarch promised a fix soon, but until then, try and meditate or something.
