Gearbox Software have confirmed that some terms from previous Borderlands games won't make the cut in the upcoming Borderlands 3 including the term midget. Instead of using this particular term, smaller psychos will be called Tinks.

Gearbox Software's looter shooter Borderlands 3 has picked up a couple of controversies since the official reveal a few weeks ago. First, the decision to make the game Epic Store exclusive for six months didn't go well with the players and after that, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford caused some confusion with his comments about the type of microtransactions in Borderlands 3.

The latest bit of info that could become another talking point within the Borderlands community is the censorship of some words that have been used in previous games. According to Gearbox Software, the term midget, which was used in Borderlands and Borderlands 2 as a name for smaller types of Psychos will be entirely removed from the third instalment.

According to the game's producer Chris Brock, who talked to PCGamesN, instead of using the term midget, the smaller Psychos will be called Tinks in an effort to be more sensitive.

However, it's unclear if other words will be censored as well and Brock also didn't provide examples of other terms which could be censored. He did mention that some words will stay in the game as their usage is more "thematic" and not derogatory.

For example, multiple bandit clans that appeared in previous Borderlands games have been united in Borderlands 3 and are now referred to as "fanatics". One thing that is kinda weird is that the term psycho remains in the game even though some would find it derogatory and offensive just like the term midget.

Whether Gearbox Software remove even more words, including the term psycho, as we get closer to the release date remains to be seen but it safe to say that Borderlands 3 has attracted more attention for the wrong reasons so far.
