Castlevania's spiritual successor will not be coming to the Nintendo Wii U, but it's on the horizon for the Switch
Koji Igarashi's next game, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, will not be coming to Nintendo's Wii U console after all. The project raised over £4.4 million from 64,867 backers during its Kickstarter campaign back in 2015.
A recent backer update states that the game will not be released for Wii U, but it's not all bad news:
"During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch.
This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch."
Backers who opted for a Wii U version of the game will receive a copy for Switch instead, be eligible for a refund, or given a chance to request another version for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Vita.
After being delayed in September 2016, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is set to release in the first half of 2018.
