Fans' long wait on Twitch and YouTube is finally over as people at Bethesda finally showed mercy and relinquished the teaser trailer for Fallout 76. Fan reactions ranged from confused, over hyped to joking about missing 71 Fallout titles.
Fallout 76's trailer starts in Bethesda's traditional fashion with a radio powering up and and starting to play a song. This time around, the song was somewhat newer than what we're used to as it is John Denver's "Take me home, country roads" from 1971. This isn't the only twist, as the radio turns out to be on a which was used in Fallout 2.
One note from the PipBoy on the trailer is the date that's showing "27 October 2102" which may hint at the game being set 185 years before Fallout 4. That said, there is another detail on the trailer that is controversial to this statement - the colour TV. This is the first time a colour TV has been shown in any Fallout game or their promotional material.
Then again, we can't really expect colour TVs to come in the future after Fallout 4, with the whole world being thrown back into stone age with just a few factions that are technologically advanced. This could be one of the few prototype TVs from years just before the war, and Vault 76 was sort of a flagship for Vault-Tec so it's possible it had colour TVs.
Speculations about the game's location have also flared up, with most people claiming it's in Virginia due to the song but Fallout 3 puts it into Washington D.C. area. One terminal entry on the Citadel specifies the but the exact location is not specified. This specific vault was designed to open after 20 years and evict its residents, which is an interesting point since one part of the trailer, at 01:10 time stamp, shows a poster nudging the residents to celebrate "Reclamation Day" which could hint that the residents eventually fought the system and took the vault back for themselves.
Bethesda
"Neighbouring" Vault 75 is in Capital Wasteland which is another hint at Fallout 76 being set there instead of Virginia, but the fact that Vault 77's location is still a mystery bars any conclusions from being drawn. These are only hints, and the concrete information will most likely be given at Bethesda's E3 2018 presentation.
