Awesomenauts launched way back in 2012, and the game by Dutch studio Ronimo Games had a good run across multiple platforms. It started out as a PlayStation 3 title, and was later ported to Xbox 360 and PC for Windows, Linux and OS X. A separate version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was released under the title Awesomenauts, Assemble!. That good run might continue on PC in a more free-to-play manner.

"Awesomenauts is now free to play on Steam! This transition has been in the works for years and we’re incredibly excited about making the game available to many more players around the world! A big thank you goes out to our community for helping us make this happen and for all the efforts you have taken to welcome new players", the studio today.

Going forward, Awesomenauts will be running on a more conventional free-to-play MOBA business model. Premium currency, unlockable characters, cosmetics - the works. The game will also be updating to version 4.1 with a new character joining the roster. A full reveal is scheduled for 31 May 2017.
