Astralis have won the fifth season of ECS in London after meeting Team Liquid in the Grand Finals. The fan favourite won two maps in the row where they showed magnificent team play. The Danish roster took home the grand prize of $250,000.
After Astralis disqualified Faze and Team Liquid won vs NRG it was time for the grand finals. Team Liquid had the first pick where they chose to play Mirage. With the first picked map Team Liquid had a chance to show what they are made of, but unfortunately for Liquid fans, they were swept by the Danish roster in the first half with the score being 11:4.
The second half kicked off similarly where Astralis won additional 4 rounds only to need one more for the win. After two tactical pauses from Liquid, they managed to keep their composure and win ten rounds in a row getting closer to overtime. Astralis was pushed to their limits but finally Nicolai "device" Reedtz managed to secure the win for his team in decisive 1v1 situation giving us a great CS:GO match.
Map two, de_dust2 was on the way, with Astralis taking the pistol round just to lose the next one versus Liquid's rush on B site and Liquid continues to rack up the scoreboard round after round making the score 6:1 getting closer to evening the odds.
After winning just one round Danes got shut down by Epitacio "TACO" de Melo who won a 1v3 clutch situation taking the lead to 10:2. Astralis kept their spirits high winning the last three remaining rounds keeping themselves in the game with hopes of bouncing back in the second half. With Astralis now being on the aggressive side they won the pistol rounds with Emil "Magisk" Reif cashing in three kills for his team.
The first round was enough motivation for Astralis as they made an outstanding run taking eight rounds in a row. With the score now being 14:10 and with a final push to the victory the Danish roster managed to win the grand prize of $250,000. The 22-year-old Nicolai "device" Reedtz earned the title of the MVP with the overall amazing performance. The final breakdown of the ECS prize-money is as follows:
