Season 6: Boosted has officially landed in Apex Legends boy is it a big one. Among other things, it brings a host of legend changes as well as a dev badge, which will let you identify Respawn's legends.
And you better believe they're legends - this is the studio that puts me in a really peculiar spot when I'm asked about my opinion on battle royale.
Do I love the genre? Heck no - I don't like competing in shooting and all the egotrippery that usually follows (just a personal preference, don't rip my head off). Do I like Apex Legends, though? Like? I adore it, but...y'know...it's not battle royale, this is Apex Legends, dude.
I know, it doesn't make for a compelling argument, but that's my best shot at an explanation of why I'm so entirely enamoured by Apex Legends. Respawn continue to impress in every aspect and long it may continue. Anywhoo, onto the legends.
Legends Changes
As you could've guessed from the cover image, the brunt of the legends changes went to the Recon class, i.e. Bloodhound, Crypto and Pathfinder. In spite of ample nerfs, one of these is still metallic head and shoulders above the rest, or in Respawn's words, "It’s the robot. The robot dominates."
For starters, all the Recon legends can use the survey beacon, with Crypto being able to do it instantly via his drone.
Pathfinder
To compensate for all Recon legend getting to use survey beacons, Pathfinder's Zipline Gun gets a 10-second cooldown reduction each time he scans a beacon. Doing it diligently for every ring means you can bring down the total cooldown from 120s to 60s.
Bloodhound
Bloodhound's ultimate ability, Beast of the Hunt, now gains even more duration when you get a knockdown or a kill, with the extension ranging from 5 to 15 seconds depending on the remaining duration.
When in Beast of the Hunt, his tactical, Eye of the Allfather, comes out twice as fast (1.8s to 0.9s) and its cooldown drops from 25s to just 6s.
Crypto
Crypto's drone can now instantly activate respawn and survey beacons. His drone had an iffy hitbox though, so they made it a bit easier to hit, while doubling its hit points.
Wraith
Now, Wraith is no recon class but players found a really deadly combo where they used Revenant, Wraith and Crypto. This enabled them two quick attacks when all the ultimates were strung together, which made Respawn tweak Wraith's Dimensional rift to be inactive for 2 seconds after being recalled by the Death Totem.
Last but not least is the dev badge, which will let you know if you see a dev on the battlefield. Respawn's design director Jason McCord wrote on Twitter, "Oh, and the last thing I am hyped for is finally whitelisting the devs to have THIS. It only took 6 seasons lol. See you out there. If you see the badge... go easy on us."
