Add Battlestation for maximum comfort!

Cuddle up with a book? Naah. Warm cup of chocolate and a movie? Meh. Crawl under a blanket with a cozy game? Throw in some pastries and it's a deal!

Nothing makes winter go by faster, than a nice stack of comfy games. But, 'comfy' is an elusive property. Slow pacing, warm art-style and palette, relaxing tunes, no timers, a mild sense of progression, nostalgia? Comfyness is hard to nail down, but here are some games that come real close to that perfect warm blanket feel.

Skyrim - You can cuddle the furry junkie too... If you are into that sort of thing, that is. Skyrim - You can cuddle the furry junkie too... If you are into that sort of thing, that is.

The Elder Scrolls games are some of the comfyest games around. Progress at your own pace or just fooling around, an expertly blended palette, subtle soundtrack, and only hectic if you are running straight into trouble. The same could be said of most Bethesda RPG-s, but relaxing in front of a fireplace with a Khajiit buddy has precious few substitutes.

Majesty - As comfy as it may be, an unattended fireplace may lead to a burning castle. Majesty - As comfy as it may be, an unattended fireplace may lead to a burning castle.

Majesty is comfort you can enjoy with one hand on your teacup. Build and manage a small kingdom, and watch your mostly automated units wander around completing their tasks, depending on how you govern things on a broader scale. If you enjoy a game that sometimes won't hurry up, even if you want it to, Majesty has loads of comfy to get you through the winter.

Just Cause 2 - Scorpio never takes his comfy pants off, even when out for a swim. Just Cause 2 - Scorpio never takes his comfy pants off, even when out for a swim.

The Just Cause games are a whole different kind of comfy. A vast open world and oceans worth of content to take in at your own rhythm, that makes for comfort. Add a bloom heavy artstyle in places, scenic vistas, and a story that isn't in any rush to get someplace, and the comfort is complete. Also, explosions are warm, right?

Osmos - Establishing a comfy orbit. Osmos - Establishing a comfy orbit.

Osmos is casual comfy with lots of flow. Tuned to a mellow and bubbly soundtrack, with an understated aesthetic based on round shapes and an overall calming tone, Osmos is meditation by way of comfort. The game runs on any platform you might want to pick it up for, and is perfect for full body cozyness, under a blanket, and with your mobile device of choice.

Dungeon Keeper 2 - Sure feels comfy, not being in that chair. Dungeon Keeper 2 - Sure feels comfy, not being in that chair.

Dungeon Keeper is dastardly comfy. Enjoy watching, while your minions tirelessly mine, study, work, train, live and breathe, only for your pleasure. Take a stroll through your dungeon in first-person for deep immersion, and walk past lava if you are feeling slightly cold that deep underground. Bonus points for playing maps with the infinite gem resource, less resource worries, more comfy!
