How to get inside the church during the Return to Zalissya side quest

Once you make your way back to Zalissya, you'll find the town devastated by a fight between Stalkers and Monolithians; many of them will lie dead inside the local bar as well.

However, if you try to enter the church with Gaffer and the rest of the stalkers inside, the door will be locked, and two guys sitting in front of the door wouldn't be of any help.

To solve this progress-blocking bug, you'll have to do one very random thing. To be honest, I was stuck on this quest for a while, and I decided to look for help online. One of the Reddit users called PapaRoach4Jail actually found a workaround, and we give him full credit for this discovery.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl: Dire Thicket location

If this situation occurs to you, pull out your map and search for Dire Thicket on it—it is located just a couple hundred meters to the south of Zalissya. If you haven't discovered it yet, check out the map we posted above.

In this small village, roam a bit, and the Bloodsucker will eventually attack you. Lower your difficulty to make the encounter easier and make him follow you back to Zalissya. You'll have to use a couple of medpacks and patch yourself up a few times, but you'll manage easily.

Once you reach Zalissya, it will stop following you. Approach the church door, and voila, it is unlocked now. Once you enter the church, you'll automatically speak to Gaffer, and the On the Edge quest will commence. Keep doing it until you unlock the Baptism by Fire achievement.
