.Marvel Rivals is and how the game functions overall. Marvel Rivals is a new 6v6 third-person hero shooter from NetEase Games in collaboration with Disney's Marvel Games. It is a free-to-play title available across all current generation platforms. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game launched with eight original maps based on iconic landmarks seen in Marvel movies and comics.
NetEase Games has introduced a 33-character roster for Marvel Rivals with characters like Spider-Man, Dr Strange, and Peni Parker. These characters are divided into three sub-classes, Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists. From the Vanguard sub-class, Peni Parker is an excellent choice for beginner and intermediate players. Marvel Rivals: Peni Parker 101
Let us begin with a rundown of Peni Parker in Marvel Rivals. Peni Parker is a Vanguard character with the ability to take long and short-range gunfights. Here's a complete overview of Peni Parker's move set:
- Abilities
- Cyber-Web Cluster: Her primary fire, Cyber-Web Cluster, is unique as it has infinite ammo, allowing Peni to keep her pressure constantly.
- Cyber-Web Snare:Her secondary fire, Cyber-Web Snare, immobilises targets hit. If the web hits a surface, it creates a Cyber-Web area. Up to 3 webs can exist at a time, replacing the oldest.
- Peni's kit revolves around her Cyber-Webs, which grant her bonus movement speed, healing-over-time and bonus health as long as she's stepping on them. This only affects Peni.
- This ability can even interrupt Ultimates, such as Scarlet Witch's Reality Erasure and Spider-Man's Spectacular Spin.
- It has a hitbox that can block projectiles, including some Ultimates, most notably Iron Man's Invincible Pulse Cannon.
- Bionic Spider-Nest: Bionic Spider-Nest is a stationary deployable unit that creates a large Cyber-Web around its location and periodically spawns Arachno-Mines. Peni can manually position it. Only one can be placed at once, and its cooldown is shorter the more health it currently has after Peni deactivates it.
- Arachno-Mine: Arachno-Mine are tiny spider-shaped bots that can be shot and attached to any surface; if shot on a Cyber-Web, they'll be concealed and become invisible to the enemy team; while inside the webs, the mines will lock-on any enemy that steps on the web.
- Cyber Bond: Cyber-Bond is Peni's limited use of webslinging. She can fire a strand of web that pulls her to any surface it hits; Peni will be latched by the web until it's cancelled. This ability creates a Cyber-Web.
- Spider-Sweeper (Ultimate): Her Ultimate, Spider-Sweeper, vastly increases her movement speed while granting her access to a sweep attack that launches enemies upwards. In addition, she gains bonus health and constantly launches Cyber-Webs and Arachno-Mines while running.
- Peni can wall crawl on vertical surfaces, but only in a 90° angle upwards. Moreover, if paired with Venom, Peni gains access to Armor Expulsion, which deals damage per second to enemies in a small radius around her while knocking them back.
How to play Peni Parker
Peni Parker is a great Vanguard for holding objective sites or defending a choke point. Unfortunately, her kit makes her almost obsolete for advancing or pushing sites or enemies. While playing Peni Parker, you will most rely on your Cyber-Web Cluster and Cyber-Web Snare. As you start defending a position, place your Arachno-Mines in a way that your enemies walk into them in a group, dealing instant finishing blows or taking off almost 90% of their health.
To further put pressure on the attacking team, place your Bionic Spider-Nest behind cover and let it disperse Arachno-Mines periodically. On the contrary, you'll use your Cyber-Web Cluster to deal continuous damage to your enemies, and in between that, keep releasing Arachno-Mines near you and in their direction.
For mobility, you can use your Cyber-Bond to zip to different places. And as for passive healing, extra health, and speed boost, fire a Cyber-Web Snare at your feet, and it will create a Cyber-Web area that will give you constant healing and speed boost. As Peni is a defensive hero, we recommend staying close to your teammates and objective areas to maximise the value of her kit. You should try to avoid single encounters to keep yourself alive in combat.
