The new League of Legends item overhaul has brought many changes to all of the roles in the game. We have prepared a list of mid lane champions you should definitely play if you're new to the preseason.
The new League of Legends preseason has brought many changes with the item overhaul. This has been arguably the biggest change Riot has done in the recent couple of years since it impacted every champion's contribution to the game. There were many follow up adjustments and that's why we've waited for the balance dust to settle in order to give you the strongest mid lane champions you should definitely play in this preseason.
- S TIER:
- Viktor
- Akali
- Fizz
Many thought that the removal of the item Hextech Gunblade would put the final nail in the coffin when it comes to Akali's overall performance and win rate in the game. However, all the healing she can get from Riftmaker, Conqueror, Taste of Blood and Revenous Hunter has made her one of the strongest champions in the game. A deadly combination of burst damage and healing, while going in and out her Shroud (W) has made her one of the most obnoxious champions to deal with in the game.
- A TIER:
- Zed
- Kayle
- Ekko
- Katarina
- Diana
- Galio
- Malphite
- Yone
The addition of the new mythic item, Eclipse, has made Zed by far the strongest AD assassin in the game. Eclipse has covered two of his main weaknesses. First and foremost, thanks to all of the armour penetration it provides, it has enabled Zed to be picked against a tanky team composition. The other main thing is that the 15 per cent Omnivamp this item provides has given him the much-needed sustain which he can use in the laning phase as well as on a split pushing duty.
- B TIER:
- Annie
- Yasuo
- Malzahar
- LeBlanc
- Brand
- Cassiopeia
- Vladimir
- Sylas
- Neeko
- Lux
- Swain
- Rumble
- Ahri
The recent changes to Brand have promoted him to the B tier on our list and he currently holds a 53.75 per cent win rate for the mid lane position. He has the potential to dish out large amounts of damage. His only weakness is that he is an immobile champion who can easily get exposed by the enemy jungler.
- C TIER:
- Aurelion Sol
- Talon
- Morgana
- Pantheon
- Zoe
- Orianna
- Lissandra
- Taliyah
- Vel'Koz
- Xerath
- Mordekaiser
- Pyke
- Qiyana
- Ziggs
Thanks to all of the new AD assassin items, especially Prowler's Claw, Pyke has become a viable pick in the mid lane again. He currently holds a 53 per cent win rate for this role and if it wasn't for mages who can out-push him in the lane, he would definitely be higher on our list.
- D TIER:
- Ryze
- Sett
- Lucian
- Twisted Fate
- Syndra
- Azir
- Corki
- Veigar
- Anivia
- Ornn
