Fortnite's latest update is now live on all platforms and it brings the new limited time mode named Floor is Lava. As the name already suggests, players will have to hold the high ground and avoid lava to become the last man standing.

Epic Games have shared full patch notes for the latest Fortnite Battle Royale update. Just like the developer revealed earlier this week, the update includes a brand new limited time mode named Floor is Lava.

In case you're not familiar with the term, Floor is Lava is a game in which players have to avoid the floor and stay on higher ground. Those who touch the floor would be eliminated from the game.

Fortnite's new mode works in a similar fashion. After the match starts, the lava will gradually rise from the lowest parts of the map and move at a steady speed until the entire map is covered in hot liquid.

Touching the lava will apply damage directly to your health and bounce you up in the air so you can try and find a higher ground to save yourself. Building will be possible on lava and players will be given a small number of materials every second to build a safe platform once the entire map is on fire.

Along with the brand new mode, Epic Games also included a couple of other additions in the v8.20 patch. One of them is Poison Dart Trap that can be placed on walls, floors and ceilings and it's available in Uncommon rarity.

The trap is found in Floor Loot and it fires poison projectiles a distance of three horizontal grid cells. Those who get hit by a dart will receive a damage-over-time effect that will damage health directly, regardless of your shields.

The effect deals 10 damage per tick and has 8 total ticks over 7 seconds which takes total damage to 80. Subsequent hits will refresh the duration of the effect, but the amount of damage per tick won't change.

To heal the damage, you will now have three additional Foraged items - Bananas, Coconuts and Peppers. These tasty items will grant different buffs.

Bananas will heal 5 health when consumed and can be found in the tropical biome, Coconuts grant 5 points of effective health over a short time and will replenish shields if the player's health is at max. And last but not least, Peppers instantly grant 5 health and increase the player's movement speed by 20 per cent for 10 seconds.
