Niantic have finally revealed the next Pokemon GO Community Day is taking place on 16 February 2019. The featured Pokemon will be the second generation, dual-type Ice and Ground Pokemon Swinub with its fully evolved form Mamoswine.
Niantic have confirmed the details for Pokemon GO's February 2019 Community Day event which will take place on 16 February 2019 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM CET. Community Day will feature Swinub - a dual-type Ice/Ground Pokemon introduced in Generation 2.
This Pokemon has two evolutions - Piloswine and Mamoswine but only the former is currently available in Pokemon Go. Thankfully, Niantic are using Community Day as an opportunity to reveal the Mamoswine, a fourth generation evolution form of Swinub.
According to the announcement, players will get to use the Sinnoh Stone to evolve Swinub to Mamoswine during or up to one hour after the event. This makes Mamoswine some sort of special limited time Pokemon which is something that Niantic didn't include in the game before.
It leaves a big question mark though, as Ninatic didn't confirm if players will have a chance to get Mamoswine at some point in the future.
Community Day will also have an extra bonus which will allow players to earn up to five Sinnoh Stones. These items can be earned by participating in Pokemon GO's PVP where players will have to battle other trainers for a chance to get Sinnoh Stones as a reward.
Mamoswine will also have an exclusive move which Niantic didn't reveal and the rest of the bonuses are pretty standard to everyone who participated in previous Community Day events. The event will feature 3X Stardust, three-hour lures and a highly increased chance to catch Swinub's shiny variant.
For those unfamiliar with Community Day, it's a monthly mini event in which certain Pokemon appears in mass numbers for three hours. This gives players a chance to stock up on that Pokemon and also pick it up with its exclusive move.
