Today, Sony have shared a brand new blog post, detailing some of the changes that will be coming to the trophy levelling system. Trophy level range will be increased from the current 1-100 to 1-999, and there's a new Trophies level calculation system that is more optimized and rewarding.
Another great addition that Sony officially confirmed in the blog post is that on PlayStation 5, you will be able to track trophy progress, which is certainly a welcomed addition. This means that you will see how many items you need to collect or enemies to kill before you unlock a certain trophy. Here's the important bit from the announcement:
"On PlayStation 5, you'll be able to track your progress towards individual trophies for compatible PS5 games. For example, you'll sometimes see how many artefacts you have to collect, or how many armour upgrades you need to get before unlocking the Trophy."
Sony also confirmed that the trophies you acquired on older PlayStation consoles will be automatically transferred to PlayStation 5. "The new Trophy levels will be reflected in all Trophy level environments, such as the old systems, the PlayStation App and MyStation," it's written in the announcement.
All in all, that's a lot of good news for those who plan to upgrade to PlayStation 5 or have already pre-ordered the console. Fear not, your trophies are safe and you'll also have some neat, next-gen features to look forward to.
