Xbox One owners are in for a treat, as Firaxis released a free update for XCOM 2: War of the Chosen improving the game's resolution to 1440p which is still less than 4K (2160p) but better than Full HD (1080p).
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is probably the most well known turn based tactics game these days. This is in part because XCOM: Enemy Unknown and its expansion Enemy Within laid a strong foundation and in part because XCOM 2 continued the trend. Firaxis used the positive elements of Enemy Unknown and incorporated new, well executed gameplay original to XCOM 2.
XCOM: 2 War of the Chosen came later and Firaxis proved once again that they know how to make a good expansion pack, adding three new factions to the game and adding even more gameplay elements that provided more depth to an already deep system. Xbox One owners got a surprise update for their XCOM 2 that made the game's already pretty graphics even sharper by increasing the resolution its displayed in.

While still not reaching the fabled 4K resolution, the game looks perfectly fine even in 1080p which it has now surpassed. To accommodate the higher resolution, there were some more graphics updates such as FXAA Quality to keep the anti-aliasing on par.
Aside from the improved graphics the update offered much more, such as bug and gameplay fixes. Some of the most important would be the Skirmisher ability changes and a fix for the bug that caused the disabling effects to carry over from Chosen Stronghold missions.

It may be worth noting that an XCOM 2 collection became available on Microsoft's online store. It includes XCOM 2 along with all the DLC and War of the Chosen expansion but players might find the £72 price tag a bit too steep, but in case you want the full package, it is still cheaper than buying all the components separately (£90).
The update should start itself up the moment you boot up the console and the full notes can be found on XCOM's .
