Calin Mateias is, or was, a World of Warcraft players from Romania that had the bad habit of DDoSing people he didn't like. Blizzard have accused him of crashing their servers back in September 2010 but the process took eight years.

Mateias was sentenced by judge Otis D. Wright II and he was originally indicted back in 2011 but it took seven years to complete his extradition from Romania. He has also paid a $29,987 or £22,176 fine in order to cover Blizzard's costs of labour associated with countering Mateias' DDoS attacks.

These attacks were carried out against Blizzard's servers which resulted in European server downtime and therefore literal denial of service for the players who were paying subscription for World of Warcraft. All of this ruckus was caused because Hackerman wasn't satisfied with the way loot was distributed in raids he participated in.

Prosecutors took note of his Mateias' tantrums by declaring he was motivated by his "juvenile desire" to overcome players in his raid groups. Mateias' immaturity was further compounded with the alias he used during a plot to . His handle was was "Dr Mengele" after Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor notorious for his inhumane experiments in Auschwitz.

USA Department of Justice mentioned in their press release that Calin Mateias pleaded guilty back in February 2018 to one count of intentional damage to a protected computer. He was also going to be charged for his role in the failed $10 million job linked above but the case was dropped after he was sentenced to one year in prison for the World of Warcraft incident. Justice may be blind and slow but it has certainly knocked on the apparent Nazi sympathiser's door after almost a decade.

This has to be the biggest World of Warcraft rage incident I have witnessed every since the Onyxia Whelp wipe shown in the video above. I wonder if it will receive a dedicated animation as well.
