Fatshark are releasing a bit of unpaid DLC named ''Waylaid''. The idea is for the DLC to serve as a bridge between Vermintide and Vermintide 2. It will manifest in the form of a task given to you by Franz Lohner.

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is a mouthful but where the naming department failed, the gameplay division triumphs. The game has a dedicated player base that eventually helped make it a success. In turn, successful games warrant sequels and Vermintide 2 is due for release on 8 March 2018.

Waylaid DLC will give you a new quest via Franz Lohner and it will connect the stories of the original Vermintide and its sequel.

The official announcement on Steam reads ''Lohner has a new task for you. No doubt you're off to some forest to kill rats, right? Maybe the old goat "lost" some more incredibly dangerous relics? Only one way to find out! To the mission table you go, heroes! See you in the Inn!''

Other than that, info is scarce. It might be a good time to boot up the game one last time and go knee deep in rat blood. Waylaid is free for players who already have Warhammer: Vermintide so the only extra cost will be the actual sequel, should they decide to buy it.

On the flip side, there are reports of Death on the Reik, the pre-order bonus for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 disappearing from the players' libraries, and the developers are looking into the issue. This may or may not be the herald of a rocky launch, but considering the amount of support Fatshark provided for Warhammer The End Times - Vermintide, the lifespan and launch of the sequel itself should not be an issue.

Players that want to have a few more runs in Vermintide can do so indefinitely, but it may prove troublesome to find teammates once most of them probably migrate to Vermintide 2 in March.
