Riot Games regularly makes changes to Valorant's active map pool to shake things up. Moreover, they take out most played and least played maps to make adjustments or fix different points of the map.
Like every other patch, the Valorant update 10.0 is bringing massive changes to the map pool. Riot Games is officially taking out Ascent from the game for the first time since its inclusion in the map pool at launch. Here's all the changes to the map pool in Valorant update 10.0.
All Map Pool Changes in Valorant Update 10.0
Valorant's current map pool has seven maps that are available across all game modes, including Ranked and Premier. Here's the list of the current map pool:
- Abyss
- Ascent
- Bind
- Haven
- Pearl
- Split
- Sunset
However, with the upcoming patch 10.0, Riot Games is officially removing Ascent and Sunset from the rotation. They are adding back Fracture and Lotus in the place of these two maps. Here are all maps in the Valorant update 10.0:
- Abyss
- Bind
- Fracture
- Haven
- Lotus
- Pearl
While shaking up the map rotation is important for letting players shake up the meta and create new strats, the removal of Ascent, which is arguably the most popular map of the game, might backfire in the short run. Ascent is a comfort pick for almost all players across all ranks since the game's launch.
Ascent has been the home to countless iconic strats and moments of Valorant. It is a questionable choice to take out the one map that has almost zero technical flaws. Out of all maps in the game, Ascent is the easiest map to master for all players.
Moreover, the map's three-lane distribution pushes for player creativity, as defending and attacking on the map is equally hard. Hopefully, Riot Games will bring Ascent with the next major update, as it is a part of the game's short yet impactful history.
