Valorant's most robust agent Neon is a well-known annoyance for the community since her buff with the past major update. The buff to her speed and slide, alongside increased accuracy when sliding with all weapons.
Since the unnecessary buff, Neon has been the talk of the community, with pro players and casual players alike demanding Riot Games make adjustments to her unfair accuracy buff. In a recent Twitter interaction, a Riot Games insider has shared that they are making plans to adjust Neon's moveset.
What’s Next for Valorant's Lightning-Fast Agent?
After the recent patch notes reveal, Riot's Penguin shared their take on the Neon nerf demand, stating that, "For what it's worth, we agree that Neon is too strong as well. We're working on some adjustments to balance out the parts that feel overpowered while maintaining her grounded movement combat fantasy. These changes are coming in patch 9.11."
Patch 9.11 is the next major patch for Valorant that is expected to come out on December 10, 2024. According to Penguin, Neon's main abilities are High Gear and Overdrive, which are expected to get a major overhaul by either reducing the shooting accuracy while sliding or reducing movement speed or agility.
While the big nerfs might seem like a good thing for a balanced agent selection experience, making drastic changes to her abilities might drag her popularity back to the trenches again. No matter how annoying Neon feels to play against in competitive lobbies, it will be better to make creative changes to her abilities to keep her relevant in the agent pool.
Although players have been complaining about Neon since her buff, Riot Games only decided to act when pro players shared the same frustration. Hopefully, Riot makes positive changes to Neon and also decides to shift their attention to other ignored agents like Harbour and Deadlock.
