Although not officially confirmed, sources close to Microsoft say that the new Call of Duty will be an integral part of Game Pass, which will be the strongest advertising campaign that the service has ever had.
Among the several profitable franchises that fell into Microsoft's hands after last year's takeover of Activision, Call of Duty is without a doubt the most prominent.
This series has been making millions of dollars for years, but if we briefly go back in time, we will remember how Activision and Sony had an agreement according to which players on PlayStation had a month of exclusivity before new editions and additions appeared on other platforms.
During the negotiations to acquire Activision, Microsoft had to guarantee that Call of Duty would not become an Xbox exclusive, and only after it managed to convince various committees that this would not happen, was the purchase approved.
True, Microsoft will honour its word, but according to verified sources of The Wall Street Journal, in June it will announce a major change related to this series.
Namely, if the information is correct, the new Call of Duty will be an integral part of Game Pass from day one, that is, it will be free for subscribers regardless of whether they play on Xbox or PC, which is certainly good news for everyone.
Given that Game Pass as a subscription service is far weaker than PSN, and that the sales results of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can only be dreamed of, this move by Microsoft, which has been investing more and more in them recently, is not at all surprising.
