The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 game designer has joined ZeniMax Online Studios to work on a new, unannounced AAA IP. ZeniMax Online Studios is owned by Microsoft, after MS acquired ZeniMax and all of its subsidiaries for $7.5 billion.
The former longtime senior game designer from Naughty Dog has joined a team of veterans at ZeniMax Online Studio to work on a new, unannounced AAA game.
Quentin Cobb has worked as a senior game designer on big Sony hits like The Last of Us and Uncharted 4. He posted the news on his Twitter profile and revealed that he's now an employee of ZeniMax Online Studios, which is owned by Microsoft, if you remember, so we can say that Quentin has switched jersies and now plays for the opposing team.
Quentin also wrote that he is looking forward to working with his old pal Ben Jones, who has been in the AAA gaming industry for 15 years. Ben has worked for Valve, EA, DICE (Battlefield 4), Daybreak Company (H1N1) and has now joined a freshly assembled super-team at ZeniMax Online Studios , along with other veterans who have worked on games such as Destiny 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, X-Com 2, Shadow of Mordor.
ZeniMax Online Studios is known for The Elder Scrolls Online game and Fallout 76 (additional work), so it's safe to say that this new, unannounced triple-A game will be an online game as well. Microsoft seems to be investing big money in a new IP, which sounds promising with a team like this, and it will be interesting to see will Sony have the answer to an online game of this caliber.
This move by former Sony devs was met with a huge criticism by so-called 'Sony fanboys', who are furious at both Quentin and Ben for leaving Sony and "going after money".
