Riot Games explained they want to add more excitement to rolling those gold cards in Teamfight Tactics and elaborated on how they will make it happen.
RNG is an essential part of Teamfight Tactics . It can make your game miserable but also consistently provides those high points when you roll just the right champion that will complete your composition.
This was especially true with the correct five-cost champions in some case but the latest set is not particularly kind to them. The next will be, according to Riot's blog post , in order to bring back that sense of excitement when you see a gold card among the rolled ones.
Previously, it appears the players didn't like Darius, Garen, Volibear, Viego and Kindred all that much because they were utility champions rather than carries. It's probably understandable as well because getting to the late game and still having a low chance to get a five-cost already builds a lot of tension for the player and when you get something that doesn't even help your odds that much, all of the tension is wasted.
Riot will reduce the number of utility five-costs to three in the next set while there will be five carries. Those numbers were reversed previously, with only Teemo, Heimer and Kayle being in the carry role.
While Riot didn't specifically state which champions we can expect in which role, they did say this will be the new framework for the five-cost design. In other words, we can expect more carries in the future and when you see that golden shine in your UI, you can expect great things because there will be a higher chance that the champion will turn the tide in your favour.
