Epic Games' freebie train has taken a turn for tropical survival waters today, with Beam Team Games' excellent open-world survival game Stranded Deep.
"Take the role of a plane crash survivor stranded somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Come face to face with some of the most life-threatening scenarios that will result in a different experience each time you play. Scavenge. Discover. Survive", says the short blurb.
The storyline is simple and pretty much what you'd expect from a survival game narrative - your character's plane crashes, leaving you stranded on a tiny island. As you find more materials, you craft more intricate stuff and the cycle continues.
Stranded Deep's tropical setting plays an important role, and the game will keep throwing obstacles at you. Players not only have to manage food and water, they also have to watch the time they spend in the open sun and various poisonous animals. Not to mention.
It's well worth noting that even though Stranded Deep is advertised to have multiplayer, it's only half of the truth. You can play with a friend in split-screen co-op, but for all intents and purposes - Beam Team's game is a singleplayer survival experience.
According to the leaked Epic Games Store list, next up in the 15 Days of Free Games event is Solitairica, which puts an RPG-ish spin on the famous card game.
"Solitairica takes RPG combat and challenging roguelike progression to a fresh new place—the world of solitaire! Using a variety of magical items and powerful spells, battle your way through a horde of ever-changing enemies and defeat the horrible Emperor Stuck."
You can find Stranded Deep on Epic Games Store .
