Starfield has hit one million concurrent players across all platforms on its launch day, which was yesterday, September 6. The impressive number was shared by Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer on social media X, where he posted the following message:
"Starfield exceeded 1 million concurrent players across all platforms today. Thanks to all the players who helped us reach this great milestone and congrats to Bethesda Studios."
On Steam alone, Starfield hit over 260k concurrent players yesterday. The game is also available on PC Game Pass but despite that, a huge number of players decided to buy the game for a full price on Valve's platform.
As for Xbox Series X|S consoles, it does look like a huge number of players is coming from this platform, especially after yesterday, when the Standard Edition of the game was added to Game Pass.
Obviously, the number of players will only rise as we head into the weekend, where we expect to see the highest concurrent players count for Starfield. Don't be surprised if the game reaches close to 500k concurrents only on Steam.
Starfield probably won't break the Steam record for highest concurrent players in 2023, as Hogwarts Legacy is still holding the top spot with over 800k concurrents. If Starfield wasn't on PC Game Pass, it would probably be the number one across every Steam metric.
All in all, Xbox and Bethesda will probably be happy with these early numbers which prove just how big of a hype we are having right now for Starfield, which will unquestionably be another game that we'll play for the next decade.
