Players with physical copies of Spyro Reignited Trilogy only got the first Spyro the Dragon game on disc, while the other two - Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon need a 19GB download on PS4 and up to 42GB on Xbox One.
With Spyro Reignited Trilogy releasing today - 13 November, many players have already received their physical copies of the game but have been left frustrated as the discs only contain the original Spyro the Dragon game. The other two games that are included in Spyro remaster are Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon but players will have to download these games, as none of them are included on the disc.
PlayStation 4 users will have to download an additional 19GB update in order to get the full game up and running. Things look even worse for Xbox One users with a huge 42GB update required before accessing all the content.
A little while back, the game and it's said that fans' displeasure over the plan of 2+1 played an important role in it. Players hoped that Activision did it to fix the problem and offer more of the game's content on the disc but clearly, they didn't really bother with it, as many retail version owners found out for themselves.
Some Xbox One users pointed out that less than 1GB comes from the disc itself saying that Activision might as well sell the box with just a download code in it. Others criticized the company for being cheap calling the retail version a total waste.
It's possible that discs were already printed out before Activision received the backlash from the fans after they announced that only Spyro the Dragon will be included on the disc. So that could probably be one of the reasons why the issues weren't fixed like fans expected after the game was delayed.
However, it's a mystery why would they opt for such a decision in the first place. It contradicts the whole point of physical copies which are often the way to go for people with slower internet connections.
