Sony will officially start selling PlayStation 5 faceplates in January 2022 for a retail price of $55. The company also announced new DualSense controller covers.
The new faceplates come in five different colours: Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. Sony say these will launch globally sometime in January 2022 at participating retailers.
As expected, the new console covers will be available for both versions of PlayStation 5 - Digital and Standard. One thing that we've found surprising is the price. $55 for two pieces of plastic does seem quite high and while we're certain that these will sell like hotcakes, it would still be nice if the price was a bit lower. We doubt that Sony'smanufacturing costs are that high to justify the $55 price point but it is what it is.
On top of the first faceplates, Sony also announced three new colours for the PlayStation 5 controller DualSense. The controller will come in Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. Just as faceplates, the new colour variants of DualSense will be launching next month.

Sony say that the exact launch dates for both the new DualSense wireless controller colours and the new PS5 console covers in select regions may vary by location, so be sure to check your local retailer for availability.
