Mafia 2 remake could be in the works according to the latest rumours. Apparently, the game will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and will include cut content as well as new features.
2K Games recently re-released the Mafia trilogy with a special edition, which included a full remake of the first Mafia games as well as remasters of Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 titles. However, according to the latest rumour , there might be another Mafia release very soon.
This time, Mafia 2 would be getting a remake treatment. The rumour comes from controversial message board 4chan, so we strongly suggest that you take it with a huge grain of salt. 99 per cent of rumours that appear on 4chan are usually fake and there's a high chance that this one is too, so keep that in mind as you read it.
Allegedly, the game will be coming to PC and current-gen consoles only. There won't be a last-gen release.
It's set to include new content like side missions which include assassinations contracts, improved combat, new melee weapons and cars. Now, here's where things get unrealistic. Apparently, another feature is the ability to buy homes and furnish them by picking interior styles for money. This seems like a bit too much for a remake, right?
Furthermore, Vito is described as someone reminiscent of Marlon Brando in the 50s and most of the voice actors from the original game will be back.
It does sound unrealistic and we certainly won't get our hopes up just yet, but it would be great if Mafia 2 got a makeover just like the original. We would be ecstatic to revisit the game and feel the atmosphere of that snowy intro once again. Fingers crossed.
