Valve have revealed the winners of Steam awards for 2018 which have been voted by the Steam users. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds took the Game of the Year award while CD Projekt Red and their RPG The Witcher 3 picked up two trophies.
After announcing the nominees back in December 2018 and almost two months of voting, Valve finally shared the results of voting in Steam Awards 2018. It's safe to say that some will find the results a bit odd but the nominees weren't restricted to games released only in 2018.
That's why PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been eligible for nomination and actually won the Game of the Year award even though Bluehole's battle royale officially launched in December 2017.
PUBG beat Monster Hunter World, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Hitman 2 and the only game which was actually released in 2018 - Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
While many would say that Blackout, Fortnite and now Apex Legends are superior battle royale experiences, PUBG is still showing its teeth and is the second most popular game on Steam, losing only to free to play moba Dota 2.
Anyway, other winners include The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim VR as the best VR game. Bethesda's RPG took the trophy in front of VR Chat, Beat Saber, Fallout 4 VR and Superhot VR.
CD Projekt Red is the most beloved developer while their conclusion of Geralt's adventure, The Witcher 3, has a better environment than Subnautica, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5 and Dark Souls 3.

To some, it may look pointless to pick games that were released a couple of years before 2018, but at the same time, these results show the love for both developers and their creations, which are still such a popular choice within the Steam community.
