PlayStation 4 players can get their hands on Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition at an 80 per cent discount during the holidays which marks one of the lowest price points for the GTA-like game that features fewer shootouts and much more martial arts.
Sleeping Dogs was a popular game in its day but it was overshadowed later on by the release of GTA V and never had even remotely the same kind of popularity. It is for this reason that many may be unaware of this gem but it is definitely a game they should try regardless.
PC players often get discounts for it, including the currently ongoing Steam Winter Sale with 85 per cent off on the title but console players don't get as many opportunities to snatch it for almost no charge.
The holiday season of 2019 brought one such opportunity for the PlayStation 4 players as Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition will be on an 85 per cent discount until 18 January 2020.
For those who are unacquainted with the game for whatever reason, players assume the role of Wei Shen, an undercover cop trying to infiltrate the Triads in Hong Kong. Given the setting, it was too good an opportunity to pass up on emphasising martial arts as opposed to gunfights and the developers succeeded spectacularly.
As Wei Shen learns more moves, the combos get even more intricate and flashier in order to match the growing difficulty of the more capable martial artists he will encounter. There is even a DLC that is an homage to Bruce Lee movies from the '70s, complete with the VCR effects.
Speaking of DLC, all of it is included in the purchase since this is the Definitive Edition. Meanwhile, Xbox One players can also grab Sleeping Dogs at a chunky discount but it's "only" 75 per cent off for them.
