Paper Mario: The Origami King will launch for Switch in July 2020. The recent announcement trailer showed the new 1,000-Fold Arms ability and the new ring-based system.
Nintendo just announced a new Paper Mario game. If this seems a bit out of the blue, you're not wrong. Still, here we are, with a new Mario game titled Paper Mario: The Origami King coming on July 17.
The game's announcement trailer sees Mario refuse to bend to Princess Peach's demands. Peach throws him down a pit and into a new adventure where Mario will team up with his new partner, Olivia, as well as some very unlikely allies in the form of Bowser and the Toads.
Together, they will battle the evil Folded Soldiers who serve the Origami King and try to free Princess Peach’s castle from the clutches of King Olly. Mario will be able to go at the problem with his new 1,000-Fold Arms ability that lets him extend his arms to interact with the environment and solve puzzles.
The battles will take place on a new ring-based system that will require some wit.
The sudden nature of the recent announcement by Nintendo and the fact it happened outside of a Direct might be a sign that the video game company is having some issues adapting to the work-from-home constraint the world has found itself in.
According to Venture Beat , Nintendo is also gearing up to release the 3D Mario remasters as well as Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Paper Mario: The Origami King will launch for Switch on July 17 and have a price tag that reads $59.99 USD (£49.15).
