Blizzard just revealed a new escort map for Overwatch. The map is set in Australian Outback. A new animated short is to be revealed during the Blizzard Reveal Ceremony on Wednesday, 23 August.
If they ever make an Overwatch movie, they better cast Neil Patrick Harris as Junkrat. I'm just saying. Now for the short and the map and all the new stuff Blizzard will be throwing at our eyeballs during gamescom.
Starting with Overwatch, of course, we have a new animated short that gives me Borderlands 2 and Neil Patrick Harris flashbacks. The short serves to introduce us to the upcoming escort map and features Junkrat, Roadhog and a blinged out boom trolley. Perfect.
The press release also talks about another animated short, the premiere of which will take place on "the main stage and via live stream during the Blizzard Reveal Ceremony on Wednesday, 23 August".
Not done with Junkrat yet: the new map will be playable at the Blizzard booth, and here's its description:
"Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it's now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen. When they aren’t pillaging the omnium's skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches...and to survive."That's all for now. Moving on to other Blizzard at gamescom news:
Heroes of the Storm - Kel’Thuzad, the Warcraft series’ undead Lord of Naxxramas, the latest hero to come to Nexus, will be playable at the booth. New skins including Death Knight Sonya, Dreadlord Jaina, and Crypt Queen Zagara are also coming your way. Additional details will be revealed on Wednesday.
StarCraft - Primal pack leader Dehaka, the newest Zerg co-op commander for StarCraft II, will also be playable at the Blizzard booth. Attendees will be able to play StarCraft: Remastered and its Brood War expansion.
World of Warcraft - Gamers will be able to group up and travel to Argus to run through a dungeon from World of Warcraft’s upcoming Patch 7.3. Details about this content update will also be unveiled on Wednesday.
Visitors to the Blizzard booth will be able to attend a live Darkmoon Faire, which will include activities such as "airbrush makeup station and photo opportunities with iconic WoW statues and items".
Hearthstone - Players will get to see some new Fireside Gathering features. Also, they'll be given a chance to join forces in a group raid against the Lich King.
Everyone with a sweet tooth can pick up some frozen candy from the Hearthstone travelling ice cream truck that will be making its final European stop on the Ice Cream Citadel tour on 25 and 26 August from 15:00 - 23:00 CEST.
Diablo III - Attendees at gamescom will be able to put Rise of the Necromancer pack to the test as it will be playable at the Blizzard booth on PC and PlayStation 4.
