Sony's next PlayStation 5 announcements are tentatively scheduled for this month according to latest reports. The company is expected to reveal more info about pre-orders and pricing as well as new games.
Rumours about another PlayStation 5 event in August have been floating around for some time now but Sony are yet to officially confirm the date. Yesterday, the company announced State of Play live stream but also made it clear that they won't be talking about the next-gen console in this one.
According to a reliable Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Sony will save the PlayStation 5 talk for later this month, when they have another event in the plans, which is tentatively scheduled at the moment. If all goes according to Sony's plans, then by the end of August, we probably should know the price of PlayStation 5 and pre-order start date.
"Sony's next announcement regarding the PlayStation 5 is tentatively scheduled for this month. The company intends to release two versions of the console, one with a Blu-ray disc drive and one without, though it has yet to disclose the pricing for either model," Schreier wrote.
You can also expect to see some new announcements, potentially from third-party developers. Rumour has it, Sony have been paying a lot of money for a lot of third-party timed exclusives and if this is indeed the case, then some of these titles could be revealed at the upcoming show.
Sony's biggest rival in the gaming consoles race, Microsoft, also plan another Xbox showcase this month. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer confirmed that the company will reveal more details about the console and new games very soon.
All in all, August is certainly a pretty exciting month for those who are looking to buy a new piece of gaming hardware. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are set to launch during Holiday season 2020.
