Neverwinter Nights is getting an Enhanced Edition. Beamdog, a studio made out of ex-BioWare employees will be handling the job. The new edition will feature improved graphics and backwards compatibility with saves, modules, and mods.
Bioware’s RPG Neverwinter Nights released in 2002 is the next title to receive the Beamdog Enhanced Edition treatment. More info will be available later today, at 8:00 PM GMT, but for now, this is what we know.
Neverwinter Nights will join the likes of Planescape: Torment, Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II and Icewind Dale, all of which have already received a new coat of polish that made them "modern OS friendly".
Enhanced features include:
- Improved Display: Your portrait, combat bar, inventory, and other UI elements will adjust in size based on your chosen resolution including 1080p and 4k.
- Advanced Graphics Options: Pixel shaders and post-processing effects make for crisper, cleaner visuals. You can enable contrast, vibrance, and depth of field options as preferred.
- Community Endorsed: Original developers have teamed with key members of the Neverwinter Nights community to curate important fan-requested improvements to support players, storytellers, and modders.
- Backwards Compatibility: Works with save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights. A galaxy of community created content awaits.

"Neverwinter Nights was a unique game that distilled the essence of Dungeons & Dragons and allowed players to build, share and act as Dungeon Master for amazing gaming experiences," said Beamdog CEO Trent Oster.
A Digital Deluxe Bundle will also be up for grabs. The Deluxe Bundle will include the original premium modules Pirates of the Sword Coast, Infinite Dungeons, and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr. Two soundtracks of original music and a new portrait pack is also included.
Beamdog was founded by BioWare co-founder Trent Oster and BioWare lead programmer Cameron Tofer. Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition doesn't have a release date yet, but that will probably change during tonight's .
