Evil Geniuses go home without a single map win

Mousesports have eliminated Evil Geniuses at Dreamhack Malmo Masters today. The ESL One New York champions go home without a single map win as frozen and woxic dominate.

Just a few days after their majestic triumph in New York that saw Evil Geniuses claim their first big trophy, the team has been eliminated from DreamHack Masters Malmo without a single map win. The tournament started pretty bad for Evil Geniuses who lost their opening match against Australian squad Grayhound, a loss which dropped them to the lower bracket of the group.

This put Evil Genius against the formidable opponent Mousesports, who were earlier beaten by Ninjas in Pyjamas. The first round went to Mousesports who won on the opening map Mirage, taking the game very convincingly on their CT half. David "frozen" Cernansky was the main man for Mouz, finishing the first round with a whooping 27 kills.

Train was a lot closer despite a solid performance from Frozen and the crew in the first half, which they won 11-4. In the second half though, Evil Geniuses responded and managed to push the map to overtime. However, Mousesports still grabbed the win in the second overtime, 22-20. Ozgur "woxic" Eker was on fire with 36 kills.

Mouusesports will continue their journey on DreamHack Masters Malmo against either Natus Vincere or OpTic Gaming. They still need to win two more matches to enter the playoffs and one of these matches could be against Team Liquid, who are the reigning world number one, sent to the lower bracket after their opening match.

For Evil Geniuses on the other hand, it's a pretty embarrassing elimination as many expected a fight for the title along with Team Liquid and Astralis. If they won again, Evil Geniuses would also take the lead in the race for Intel Grand Slam, but that remains just a dream now.

At the time of writing, Fnatic are leading against G2 Esports while Ninjas in Pyjamas take on Grayhound in the next match. You can watch the action on Dreamhack's official website .
