League of Legends - Mordekaiser

Riot Games have revealed how the reworked Mordekaiser will look, what his abilities will do and how League of Legends' metal revenant will start kidnapping people. He also mostly lost references to metal songs in his ability names.

Mordekaiser rework is one of the most anticipated in League of Legends, since the champion has been troubled for years, literally. Aside from his outdated looks, he was extremely buggy and hard to balance.

Morde already had a gameplay update that was sort of success, but those who found themselves on the receiving end of Mace of Spades in the early days of the rework likely still suffer from PTSD. Or just good old League-induced salt.

Riot Games recently posted an update to their plans for Mordekaiser's overhaul though, which will bring his looks in line with the modern champions as well as major changes to his kit.

Darkness Rise will be Morde's new passive. It will cause the iconic mace to have bonus damage on each attack and when Mordekaiser uses three basic attacks or spells or any combination of both, he will gain an aura that will damage enemies and speed him up until Morde is out of combat again.

Obliterate (Q) will cause Mordekaiser to slam his mace on the ground, dealing damage to any enemies in the area. If it hits only one enemy, it will suffer more damage.

Indestructible (W) will be Mordekaiser's survival and sustain tool. He will save up 25 per cent damage he deals or takes. The first use of Indestructible will give Morde a shield equal to the damage stored while casting it again will consume the shield and heal the big metal dude for half the value.

Death's Grasp (E) is highly reminiscent of Darius' Apprehend. It will provide 25 per cent magic penetration passively and using it will drag enemies towards Mordekaiser.

Mordekaiser's new ultimate is much more creative though as it brings an entirely new mechanic to the game. Realm of Death (R) at first sounds like Camille's ultimate since it isolates one enemy in an area with Mordekaiser. The difference is that he will phase both himself and the enemy out of the battlefield for seven seconds in order to have a proper 1v1.

Given the nature of League of Legends' community, it's only a matter of time before people start making jokes about Mordekaiser kidnapping children. It wouldn't be a proper 1v1 though since Annie can bring Tibbers into the mix.

Meanwhile, as you may have noticed, the new abilities don't have the metal song references anymore. Granted, Disturbed have a song named Indestructible, but old metalheads are sure going to miss Mace of Spades, Harvester of Sorrow, Iron Man, Siphon of Destruction and Children of the Grave.
